Join us for a unique retreat where yoga, healing, and mantra and heart-centered singing come together in a holistic experience of presence, flow, and inner balance.

Yoga, mantra, singing, and healing are different pathways into the same experience: presence, inner connection, and wholeness. Together, they create a space where body, breath, voice, and energy can work in harmony - and where deep rest and transformation can arise naturally.

Yoga prepares the body and nervous system. Through gentle movement, conscious breathing, and attentive awareness, tension begins to soften, circulation increases, and we land more fully in the body. Yoga helps us move out of the head and into the present moment, creating a safe and stable foundation for the more subtle experiences that follow.

Mantra calms the mind and brings the heart into focus. The repetition of sound and words creates rhythm and balance, and the vibration influences the breath, the nervous system, and the flow of energy. Mantra becomes an anchor - something the attention can rest in - and opens a doorway to the stillness behind the thoughts.

Singing and heart-centered song give the voice space as a healing instrument. When we sing, the whole body vibrates, the breath flows more freely, and emotions are allowed to move. Singing opens the heart, strengthens our sense of connection, and reminds us of the joy of expressing ourselves - without any need to perform. In shared song, a resonance arises that can feel both deeply moving and profoundly healing.

Healing flows as a quiet current through everything else. When the body has softened through yoga, the mind has been steadied by mantra, and the heart has opened through song, we become more receptive to healing. The energy is supported in returning to balance, and the body can release what it no longer needs - physically, emotionally, and energetically.

Together, yoga, mantra, singing, and healing form a holistic practice in which we move between motion and stillness, sound and inner listening. It is an invitation to land in the body, open the heart, and rest in what is - just as it is, right now.

What you can expect

  • Soft Prana Yoga – Through gentle, flowing movements in harmony with the breath, we connect with our prana — the life force that lives within each of us. This connection nurtures greater calm, harmony, and vitality.

  • Mantra Chanting – Through the power of sacred mantras, we quiet the mind and open the heart.

  • Heart Song – Singing in harmony together brings joy, strengthens the breath, and creates a deep sense of connection and togetherness.

  • Healing – Supports the balancing of the nervous system, helps us land more fully in ourselves, integrate our experiences, release blockages and tension, and find deeper ease and well-being — allowing us to return to our true nature.

Soft Prana Yoga - A journey inward into calm, effortless flow, and vital life force.

Through calm, flowing movements in harmony with the deep, gentle breath, we reconnect with our prana - the life force that lives within each of us. In nature, everything moves in perfect harmony. When you watch a blade of grass sway in the wind, it remains both grounded and steady at the same time. As part of nature, we humans also have a natural flow. Through deep breathing and soft movements, we help the body rediscover that flow.

When this happens, prana - our vital life energy - is given more space to move through the body, and we begin to experience greater calm, harmony, and vitality.

Each of us finds our own unique flow, at our own pace.

When the storm comes, the blade of grass must move - otherwise it will break. In the same way, we must find our own flow exactly where we are right now, knowing that it will always be changing. When we take time to be still, to listen, and to explore, the breath and the body can guide us toward what is needed in each moment.

This style of yoga is equally beneficial whether you are new to yoga or have many years of experience. It meets and supports you exactly where you are in your process. The principles of Prana Yoga can also be integrated into any other style of yoga practice.

Healing

Healing is a gentle and supportive practice that invites the body, mind, and energy to return to their natural balance. Within a safe and peaceful space, you are given the opportunity to release tension, calm the nervous system, and meet yourself with greater softness and presence.

During healing, we work with stillness, awareness, and intention. The experience can unfold in many ways - as deep relaxation, warmth, inner imagery, emotional release, or simply a sense of calm and clarity. Each experience is unique, and there is no expectation to “feel something special.” What matters most is allowing the body to do what it needs, at its own pace.

Within the framework of the retreat, the healing work is supported by yoga, breath, mantra, and singing. These practices help open the body and the senses, making it easier to receive healing in a holistic way. Healing can deepen your connection to your body and intuition, while creating space for profound rest, restoration, and inner insight.

Mantra and heartsong

Singing has always been a bridge between the inner and the outer world - between ourselves and the community. When we sing together, something beautiful happens: we listen, we breathe, and we melt into harmonies that uplift and open us.

Mantra and heart song are simple yet powerful practices where we use the voice to cultivate presence and connection. The mantras carry centuries of intention and sound vibrations that can be both soothing and strengthening. Heart song builds on this through simple, beautiful harmonies that allow everyone to join, regardless of singing experience.

Inspired by Beautiful Choir, we wish to create a space where we can explore our voices together -without performance or pressure - simply an open invitation to sing from the heart. We will share mantras and songs adapted to the group, letting our voices weave together and experiencing how sound can create community, joy, and inner peace.

You do not need to read music or have any previous singing experience - only a willingness to participate, to listen, and to allow your voice to find its natural place within the whole.

Pranayama: The Power of Breath in Life and Song

Pranayama, the art of breath control, offers profound benefits both in everyday life and for the voice. Regular breath practice strengthens the lungs, balances the nervous system, and cultivates calm and presence. It helps us manage stress, boosts energy levels, and brings a sense of inner clarity.

For singers, pranayama is an invaluable tool. The exercises release tension, improve breath control, and give the voice greater power and endurance. By learning to breathe more deeply and evenly, we achieve a more stable and open tone. Breath practices such as alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana) and Ujjayi breathing also enhance focus, allowing us to sing with greater presence and freedom.

Whether your goal is more balance in daily life or a stronger, more sustainable voice, it all begins with the breath.

Chakrabalancing

The chakra system describes the body’s seven energy centers, from the root of the spine to the crown of the head, each carrying its own qualities, themes, and wisdom.

Through the chakras, our relationship to safety, creativity, personal power, love, expression, intuition, and connection to something greater than ourselves is reflected. When energy flows freely, we can experience presence, clarity, and inner harmony. When it encounters resistance, we are invited to listen - not to fix, but to understand.

Each chakra carries its own tone, its own mantra, and its unique vibration.

Like strings on an instrument, the body responds to sound - not only through the ears, but through the entire nervous system, the breath, and the inner space.

In many traditions, each chakra is associated with a specific tone and mantra, a simple sound that resonates with the qualities of that energy center. When the mantra is intoned or sung, vibrations move through the body and mind, helping tension to release, the breath to deepen, and energy to find its natural rhythm again.

Mantra and tone act as an invitation to balance. They remind the chakras of their original frequency and the body of its innate ability to self-regulate. Through sound, we can create connection - between breath and body, between the physical and the subtle, between what is out of balance and what longs for harmony.

About Turid and Jonas

Turid Jørgensen Honerud is an experienced yoga instructor who believes in helping everyone find their own path into yoga at their own pace. She loves following others on their yoga journeys and sharing the experience together.

Everyone has their own truth and experience of yoga and life in general, and it is important to honor all feelings, experiences, and insights along the way. It is when we slow down, take a few deep breaths, and let go of striving for perfection that the magic begins to happen. In those moments, we can start listening to our inner selves and feel that we are enough just as we are, without any external factors. We can simply breathe, be, and relax.

Turid completed the RYT 200 Yoga Teacher Training at Asta Yoga in San Francisco. She ran her own yoga center, Yogalåva, in Neslandsvatn, Drangedal, for 10 years, offering weekly classes, courses, and retreats. Yogalåva now continues through yoga retreats hosted at atmospheric farms across Norway’s beautiful landscapes.

She is also a musician and toured for many years with the band Katzenjammer, where multi-part singing and playfulness were central. With extensive touring and travel, however, she needed a way to calm her nervous system in a fast-paced, high-pressure life. Yoga became that tool — practiced on countless backstage areas and hotel rooms during tours.

Music and singing taught her to open up and let go, while yoga taught her to gather herself, calm the nervous system, and find inner stillness.

This was how Turid first connected with yoga — through her own search for tools to calm her nervous system. She struggled with anxiety from early adulthood and sought ways to find peace. It was love at first breath when she attended her first yoga class with Karen Kollien Nygaard in Bislet, Oslo. Karen, also a psychologist, speaker, and author of Balanse – et verktøy for livet, provided Turid with many practical tools to navigate life’s ups and downs.

Turid has completed several advanced weeks with Alexander Medin at Nøsen Yoga and Mountain Hotel, which gave her not only deeper insight into yoga but also the opportunity to work with Back In The Ring. Alexander is the founder and leader of BITR, as well as director and owner of Nøsen.

Back In The Ring is a yoga program for people struggling with addiction and mental health, as well as for incarcerated individuals and former inmates. Through this work, Turid has become part of a vibrant network of yoga instructors focused on self-development and insight into yoga, life, the mind, and human nature. She attends several gatherings each year with Alexander as her mentor and instructor.

Jonas Andersson Straume has worked as a healer for three years but knew since the age of 12 that this was his path. It took time before he felt ready to embrace his calling, but after ten years as a store manager, he followed his heart and started his own healing practice. His work quickly grew, and in addition to one-on-one sessions, he leads group healings and other events in collaboration with others. He hosts “Breath and Heal” with Malin Pousette, which also functions as an active online community, and “Yoga and Healing” together with Turid Jørgensen Honerud. He hosts the popular podcast Grenseløs Spiritualitet and has a YouTube channel with thousands of followers worldwide.

As a healer, Jonas helps people reconnect with themselves, their energy, and their soul. He works with the body’s own energy system to activate the natural healing abilities we all possess. Energy does not need to be forced; it simply needs space to flow.

He will guide participants through healing meditation and channel energy to everyone in the room. Each person experiences it differently, receiving exactly what they need. There is no requirement to perform — just to receive and be.

Michael Lerstad
Michael and Turid met at the annual Back In The Ring yoga winter festival in January 2024 — Turid as the yoga instructor and music coordinator, and Michael as a participant recovering from years of destructive patterns. Their musical connection was instant, in perfect harmony from the start. In recent years, Michael has made positive life choices, with music, yoga, and meditation playing key roles in his journey. He writes his own songs and creates his own interpretations of others’ works, delivering them with a beautiful voice and expressive ability. Michael now also oversees the music at the Back In The Ring festivals, held twice a year. Together, Michael and Turid perform both original compositions and their own versions of folk and singer-songwriter pieces.
