Moving with ease - Return to Flow, Softness, and Somatic Wisdom

As we step into the transition of a New Year, we invite you to a space of deep replenishment. This is our fifth year hosting this retreat at Nøsen, and as we grow, our practice continues to evolve. We invite you to leave behind the rigidity of daily life and the rush of new beginnings. Instead, we invite you to slow down, take up space, and return to your natural state of being.

The Roots of Our Practice

Our work is rooted in over two decades of exploring movement, touch, sound, and stillness. While our backgrounds involve dance, Qigong, somatics, bodywork, music, and voice, we no longer see them as separate practices. They all point toward the same experience: softening effort, listening deeply, and trusting the body's innate intelligence. This retreat is not about learning another technique, but about remembering a more natural way of being—where movement becomes meditation, touch becomes listening, and presence becomes the ground from which healing and creativity arise.

Who is this for?

This retreat is designed for those who have a curiosity about their own body’s intelligence. It is for the person who wants to move beyond "effort" and strain, and instead learn to listen to what the body and deeper parts of us truly need.

If you are looking for a soft, intuitive way to relate to yourself and others, if you wish to explore how movement, breath, touch and stillness can create space for healing, and if you feel called to meet life’s tensions with more ease and flow: this space of exploration is for you.

The Experience: Spontaneous Movement as Practice

We wish to present an ecology of practices designed to reconnect us deeper to ourselves and our natural beingness. We do not aim for perfect forms, but for an honest expression of the inner self. Through a blend of Qi Gong, bodywork, intuitive dance, and therapeutic voice expressions, we engage the body-mind system in its most natural and perhaps intrinsic way.

Our focus is on the "effortless" qualities of movement. By shifting from tension into a state of soft awareness, we allow the body to communicate. We use movement not as a distraction from stress, but as a way to dive beneath it, reaching the deep, into naturalness that exists under our daily patterns.

Our modalities include:

Qi Gong & Meditative Movement: To cultivate energy and subtle body awareness.

Contact Improvisation & Dance: To explore the joy of spontaneous expression and physical connection.

Somatic Bodywork:

Using fascial release and intuitive touch to release held patterns.

Voice Exploration:

To free expression through sound and resonance.

Restorative Stillness:

Including deep sound journeys and optional ice bath sessions to integrate the experience.

What to expect

  • Daily movement to reconnect with your body’s innate wisdom and flow.

  • Moments of deep stillness to embrace the unknown and the quiet.

  • A community of like-minded souls sharing a journey of connection, and letting go of things that no longer serve us in the new year.

  • Practical tools to meet life’s stresses and challenges with a resilient, self regulating nervous system.

  • A soft container to hold old patterns, tensions, or traumas as they arise, allowing them to surface and release with gratitude.

About facilitators & The Listening Body

Benjamin Lindh Medin and Alexander Sebastian Lund Aarø are both artists, teachers, and therapists whose paths meet in a shared devotion to the body as a living inquiry. Both trained across dance, music, and healing arts, they bring together over two decades of experience in performance, improvisation, and somatic practice — rooted above all in qigong, contemporary dance, and the intelligence of spontaneous movement.

While their backgrounds involve dance, qigong, somatics, bodywork, music, and voice, they don’t see them as separate practices. They all point toward the same experience: softening with the experience of effort, and sometimes releasing it completely, listening deeply, and trusting the body's innate intelligence. Their work is not about learning another technique, but about remembering a more natural way of being — where movement becomes meditation, touch becomes listening, and presence becomes the ground from which healing and creativity arise.

What brings them together is not only the practices they share but the spirit in which they meet them. They are interested in the space where structure dissolves into improvisation, where technique gives way to listening, and where the body's own intelligence is allowed to lead. Their focus is on the effortless qualities of movement — shifting from tension into a state of soft awareness, allowing the body to communicate, and using movement not as a distraction from stress, but as a way to dive beneath it, reaching into the naturalness that exists under our daily patterns.

Their work is guided by a simple yet deep intention: to meet in the softness and embrace of all that we are, and to explore — for oneself and together. They believe trust is built through presence, and that true teaching happens when there is an open channel of curiosity, compassion, and the willingness to explore together. What nourishes them most is being close, building relationships, and moving in contact — with the body, with each other, and with the shared connection that runs through all expressions.

Their retreats and sessions are an invitation to explore this together. They hold space for spontaneous qigong, sound, movement, and touch — not as fixed forms, but as living, breathing inquiries. Every participant is always welcome from any place which they arrive from, where their experience and wisdom influence the practice to evolve.

Benjamin Lindh Medin

Born in Sweden in 1989, cradled between his mother’s musical theatre and his father’s yoga tradition, Benjamin A. Lindh Medin is a dancer, musician, teacher, and facilitator with over 20 years of professional experience within performing arts and healing practices. For over a decade, Qi Gong and contemporary dance has been his anchor, joined by contact improvisation, massage, fascial therapy and somatics. All these practices have been connected through the interest of cultivating ease and deep trust in the body and our ancestral intelligence. Through movement, meditation, and touch, Benjamin guides people toward deep presence, body-mind awareness and effortless connectivity.

Today, his work continues to evolve through the lens of ecology and environmentalism, exploring the subtleties of the body in relation to our environment, offering treatments and group teaching. He’s also currently studying in Oslo, Norway to become a Waldorf teacher.
