Sparkling pre-Christmas: soft flow and restorative yoga
Overview

Welcome to a nourishing pause in the mountains before the Christmas rush: a weekend full of warmth, movement, breath, reflection and community.

Christmas is about calm and reflection, warm moments, soft hearts and that cosy feeling, but for many it is stressful for different reasons. This weekend invites you to regulate your nervous system, breathe a little more easily and sink into a new, more comfortable pace. You will learn tools for calm and regulation that you can use when you return to everyday life.

Expect a fire in the fireplace, candles, the scent of essential oils, soft and dynamic flow every morning, snow bathing, sauna, good conversations, laughter, restorative yoga before bed, nourishing food and wonderful nature.

And absolutely no to-do lists. Just that good, safe feeling.

The practices

Morning yoga: soft flow that strengthens, stretches and calms

Since all bodies and backgrounds are welcome on Anette's retreats, the vinyasa classes are at a medium, open level. Newcomers can find calm, the joy of mastery and something to reach for, while experienced yogis enjoy a soft, whole practice that does not get boring. We work through the whole body with a focus on good breathing technique and a strong, functional core, moving dynamically with the breath, and finish with time for relaxation.

Evening yoga: restorative

Restorative yoga is a soft practice where we use blankets, blocks and bolsters to support us in long, calm poses that open the connective tissue and calm body and mind. Each pose is often held for several minutes so you can settle and give the body time to let go. In a society that rarely allows deep rest, restorative yoga is an important, almost radical counterweight.

Restorative yoga with essential oils

Friday and Saturday evenings include restorative yoga with essential oils and savasana massage.

Pranayama and breathing technique

A Saturday session on breath (Flow Choir if there is interest).

Closing circle

A circle on Sunday before lunch.

Anette Haave Åsheim

Yoga and singing teacher

Anette Haave Åsheim is a yoga and singing teacher with more than 15 years of experience creating and leading safe spaces for movement, voice and community.

She works where body, breath and expression meet, and cares especially about how safety and regulation of the nervous system lay the ground for growth. Her teaching is attentive, clearly structured and down-to-earth warm, which makes it safe both to be new and to be brave, whether in the yoga room, the rehearsal room or on retreat.

Anette's path into yoga began with singing: through breath, presence and the experience of flow. The link between body and voice became the foundation of her work. With a background as a teacher, choir leader, composer and project developer, she has worked in teaching, stage production, post-production and running her own businesses.

Education: Norwegian Academy of Music (practical teacher training, PPU); Berklee College of Music, BA in composition (Film Scoring); Romerike Folkehøgskole, theatre. Yoga: Vinyasa foundation training, Yoga Vida, Manhattan, 2014; Restorative yoga with Abby Paloma, Yoga Vida, Manhattan, 2017; postnatal yoga with Jannicke Wiel, Oslo Yoga, 2017; pregnancy yoga with Yogamamma, Cathrine Mathiesen, 2018; yoga for children (ages 3–6, 7–9 and children with special needs) with Marit Thorsrud, Oslo Yoga, 2018.

Anette is a regular guest teacher on yoga teacher trainings, including Feminine Yoga TT with Cathrine Mathiesen, Claudia Menger and Mette Harr Støre, and Yoga Nidra Immersive training with Rachel Brownbridge and Claudia Menger. She is an experienced retreat leader and has held many retreats and events in Norway and abroad.
