Breath and movement
The breath as a tool for moving the body through a vinyasa system (Ashtanga Vinyasa).

With Pernille Bønkan and Axel Haugland. A different kind of weekend exploring the breath through vinyasa, meditation, contact improvisation and breathwork.

After Axel and Pernille's previous courses with us, many people asked for another one. Do you feel you need to breathe extra deeply? Now is your chance: welcome to a different kind of weekend with breathwork.
The breath is essential to all life. Awareness of and curiosity about our breath can be deeply healing and transformative. In Hatha yoga (physical yoga) we train the ability to expand, lengthen and hold the breath as a path towards liberation (samadhi). Modern Western science has also shown that breathing exercises have a great effect on our physical, mental and emotional health.
This weekend Axel and Pernille invite you to explore the breath from several angles, all with the same aim: to come into contact with ourselves, go into deeper layers and release more of our great inner potential.
Come and join the journey towards your inner pulse, the pulse of the earth, and towards opening up to more lightness, joy and flow in life.
The breath as a tool for moving the body through a vinyasa system (Ashtanga Vinyasa).
The breath as a focus for concentration and centring the mind in meditation.
The breath in meeting other people: listening, and meeting other bodies.
The breath as a tool to come into contact with our intuitive nature and closer to the big existential questions. Often also called 'rebirthing'.

Pernille has worked with body and energy all her life. As a young dancer she was introduced to Eastern approaches to body and mind, such as acupuncture, qigong, tai chi, yoga and aikido. This shaped much of her approach to dance and the performing arts in her professional career. Over time, yoga gradually became her way of life.
For the last 20 years she has run Puroyoga in Oslo. She took over as head teacher when her teacher Alexander Medin turned his full attention to Nøsen in 2018.
Besides running Puroyoga and teaching yoga full time, Pernille has long teaching experience. She has taught and choreographed dance at KHiO, the Norwegian College of Ballet, Bårdar, Kulturskolen at Schous and Proda, and has also made work for the National Ballet, Nytt dansk danseteater and other independent groups.
Partner work has always been central to Pernille in both dance and yoga. She has always been fascinated by the interplay and meeting between two bodies, from classical techniques in ballet and martial arts to more intuitive approaches such as contact improvisation and body-mind centering.

Axel's yoga journey began more than 10 years ago and has since branched into different practices centred on presence, creative expression and sustainability: building a steady bridge between inner life and outer expression.
Axel finds that a central part of a healthy yoga practice is learning to bring what we experience in a yoga class or a meditation ceremony, a setting different from the usual, into everyday life and our relationships.
Axel has studied different branches of yoga with teachers including Biff Mitthoefer, Dan Brulé, Duncan Wong and John Bentham. He is also a qualified personal trainer and a certified Foundation Training instructor.
