Asana and Introspection - Jivamukti Yoga Retreat with Jules & Martyna

Asana and Introspection - Jivamukti Yoga Retreat with Jules & Martyna

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

As we’re getting closer to fall, the dusk and the dawn of the seasons, we are looking forward to yet another in-depth and transformative retreat experience with JULES & MARTYNA. Join us in the stunning nature of the Norwegian mountains for full days of practice, community, philosophy- and yoga studies.

Fall is a magical time, a time ripe for harvesting the fruits of our labor both physical and spiritual. The regular cycle of the seasons produce a regular cycle of movement and as fall approaches most beings prepare themselves for the slower movement and solitude that winter will bring. It is marked by thankfulness and gratitude for what we have and a request for strength for the hardships to come. Asana practice keeps the body warm, limber and receptive to subtly while the more introspective practices of pranayama, pratyahara, dharana and dhyana can prepare the practitioner to delve into inner space.

JIVAMUKTI YOGA

The Jivamukti Method is grounded in the original meaning of the Sanskrit word asana as “seat, connection” – relationship to the Earth. Earth implies all of life. Citing the Yoga Sutra, which states that asana should be sthira and sukham, Jivamukti Yoga maintains that one’s relationship to others (asana) should be mutually beneficial and come from a consistent (sthira) place of joy and happiness (sukham). This is a radical idea that, when put into practice, can dismantle our present culture, which is based on the notion that the Earth and all other animals exist for our benefit and to be exploited for our own selfish purposes. So the practice of asana becomes more than mere physical exercise to keep one’s body fit or to increase strength or flexibility; it becomes a way to improve one’s relationship to all others and thus lead to enlightenment – the dissolution of the sense of separateness, the realization of the oneness of being, the discovery of lasting happiness.

JULES FEBRE

Jules Febre was born and raised in a section of New York City known as the Lower East Side. At the age of 13, Jules spent three months in India; two of which were spent in Mysore studying Ashtanga Yoga with Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. During that time he was invited to share satsang with Swami Nirmalananda and Shyam Das, two radical yogis that have each contributed greatly to the progression of yoga in the West. At the age of 16 Jules began working at the Jivamukti Yoga School helping to clean, and is now considered one of the leading teachers of the Jivamukti Yoga method, teaching the method world wide as well as facilitating at the very highly regarded teacher training programs.
Jules travels and teaches for a major part of each year, including to Europe, Australia, Asia, and more. His classes offer a wide range and depth of understanding of Yoga Asana as well as Meditation, Chanting, and Yoga Philosophy.
Teaching yoga is Jules’ passion. He is grateful to his teachers, Sharonji (Gannon), Davidji (Life) who he has had the privilege of studying with for over 15 years, for igniting his devotion to the Jivamukti Yoga practice and for inspiring countless students around the world.

MARTYNA EDER FEBRE

Martyna Eder is an advanced certified Jivamukti Teacher, and an actress. Coming from an artistic and musical background, along with being a passionate animal rights activist, Jivamukti Yoga felt like home to her right away. After graduating teacher training, she let go of acting and dedicated her life fully to practicing, and teaching Yoga. She teaches regular classes at Jivamukti Berlin, as well as workshops and retreats all over the world. Martyna serves as a mentor in the Jivamukti 800- Hour Apprenticeship Program, and is part of the Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training faculty. Her biggest inspiration is the tireless animal rights and environmental activism of her teachers, Sharon Gannon and David Life, which she makes her priority to pass on to her students by conveying a loving and compassionate behavior towards all living beings, and by practicing non-violence in thoughts, words and actions as the first and foremost important step of all Yoga practices.

In a world that constantly demands more from you, it's easy to feel depleted, disconnected, and caught in a cycle of doing. Stress, overwhelm, and exhaustion become the norm, leaving little space for true restoration.

This retreat is your invitation to step out of that cycle. To soften the edges of exhaustion, release the weight of constant doing, and remember what it feels like to be deeply rested, present, and whole.

We invite you to slow down, connect with the wisdom of your body, and embrace the rhythm of rest.

Throughout the retreat, we guide you through our three signature workshops and more, designed to transform your relationship with rest and help you reconnect with yourself on a deeper level.

Each day is woven with movement, Yoga Nidra, and somatic practices to nurture your nervous system and bring you home to yourself. We wind down with intentional sleep-prep rituals and close our time together in a heartfelt circle. You will leave not just feeling better, but with a deep sense of renewal—more rested, more connected, more you.

Each day offers time for free exploration, hiking, swimming or whatever your heart desires.

This immersion is our unique approach to countering stress, overwhelm and disconnection. Our time together is an invitation to reset, reconnect, and remember the profound nourishment of true rest so you feel more rested, more connected, more whole.

Sadhana Intensive "Sankhya" – A Week of Deepening in Yoga with Alexander Medin

Sadhana Intensive "Sankhya" – A Week of Deepening in Yoga with Alexander Medin

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

Welcome to beautiful Nøsen for a week of enrichment, deepening, and exploration of what yoga truly is.

This week is for those who wish to develop their personal practice and establish sustainable daily routines that strengthen and deepen their experience of yoga.

The days begin early with morning meditation/japa, followed by physical practice and breathing exercises.
Afternoons are dedicated to technique studies and practical yoga philosophy, or to gentle yoga and breathwork designed to promote calmness and well-being. Each morning, participants will be divided into two groups according to their preferences and needs: a Led Class and a Mysore Class.

The philosophy sessions this week will focus on the ancient Sankhya system, which laid the foundation for the entire yoga tradition as well as many other Indian traditions. We will explore its origins in the Upanishads, the Sankhya Karika, and how this discipline was instrumental in shaping the Yoga Sutras and all practical yoga philosophy.

Nøsen is surrounded by stunning, untouched nature, with plenty of time each day to go for walks, enjoy silence, swim in mountain lakes, cycle, paddle, or simply relax in the grass. Canoes, SUP boards, and bicycles are available for rent for those who wish.

This course is well-suited for all levels, and we will help you find depth according to your own background and capacity. You will definitely take home valuable tools that will enrich your personal practice, your yoga, and your life as a whole.

Welcome to Nøsen. Come and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains, strengthen your personal practice, and treat yourself to wholesome, nourishing meals that bring lightness to the body and promote health and well-being on every level.

Your Teachers

R. Alexander Medin has been teaching yoga for 28 years.
He was certified by the legendary Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2002 – an honor granted to only 33 people worldwide. He holds an MA in Sanskrit and Indian Religions (SOAS, 2004) and has had the privilege of traveling the world to teach yoga. Alexander is also the founder of Puro Yoga, the Back in the Ring Foundation, and Nøsen Yoga and Mountain Hotel.

Alexander’s own life journey reflects resilience and transformation. Despite a challenging upbringing, he became the Norwegian champion in Breakdance (1984) and later in Boxing (1987), before completing a classical ballet education (1990). He went on to work for five years as a dancer and musical performer before finding his true calling in teaching yoga.

On this retreat, Alexander will be assisted by Monika Amundin, who has been his student and has maintained a daily Ashtanga Yoga practice for over 20 years. She has extensive experience teaching both beginners and seasoned practitioners, as well as pregnant women, children, and – not least – inmates in prison.

“Yoga is a treasure chest – an inner resource we can always open for strength, balance, self-regulation, and true joy.”Monika

200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training - A 9 Month Program with Alexander Medin

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

Yoga is life, and life itself is our great yoga practice. Teaching yoga is first and foremost about truly understanding what yoga is—building a solid foundation of this understanding and then being able to share it in an honest way.

Modern yoga often emphasizes form and appearance, but living yoga touches the core of our being, awakens presence, and brings clarity into everyday life. Yoga helps us see the world in a new way, understand our own mind, and find greater clarity and strength in action.

Becoming a yoga teacher is like any other profession: the deeper you go into your practice, the more confident you become, and the better you can serve others. This training year will give you a broad overview of what yoga is, while guiding you into depth—through practice, philosophy, teaching, and the art of communicating yoga in an authentic and clear way.

What You Will Develop on a Personal Level

  • Build a solid personal practice that strengthens both body and mind.

  • Learn breathing techniques that cleanse the body and mind, boost energy, and enhance well-being and insight.

  • Deepen your experience with classical meditation exercises that improve concentration and promote inner calm.

  • Explore classical mantra and japa practices to center the mind and increase focus.

  • Gain a foundational understanding of yoga philosophy and be introduced to classical texts.

  • Acquire basic knowledge of anatomy.

  • Receive a historical overview of yoga’s development over the past 150 years.

  • Learn to analyze texts, see connections, and gain new perspectives.

  • Practice writing reflections, participating in debates, and giving presentations on various aspects of yoga.

  • Develop the ability to relax and be fully present in what you do.

The essence of yoga is presence. It involves a lot of practice and repetition to experience mastery. These new routines can foster experiences that lead to new clarity and insight. Yoga is also about learning to let go. Give up! Let go! It’s about recognizing the different patterns of the mind and becoming more aware of how they shape and influence us as human beings. A daily practice is essential to achieve this. The teacher training places a strong focus on exactly that—how we can dedicate more time to yoga in our daily lives in order to gain a deeper understanding of what it truly is.

This course is open to anyone seeking to deepen their yoga practice. Below is a brief description of the types of people who have attended the course before:

  • Those pursuing a career as a yoga teacher, either full-time or part-time.

  • Those who want to deepen their personal practice and enrich their daily life with new challenges.

  • Professional athletes using yoga to enhance their performance.

  • Professional artists seeking a deeper edge in their expression.

  • Everyday workers looking for ways to gain more energy and meaning in daily life.

  • Academics curious about what yoga truly is.

  • Those who want to deepen their practice, write about it, and gain clearer structure.

  • Individuals recovering from addiction, making a comeback in life.

  • Former inmates wishing to make the most of their freedom.

  • Retirees with ample time to devote to practice.

In short, participants come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Each year is different. Some are very serious, others take the course more playfully, and the group dynamics always create a rich and diverse community. The benefits you receive are proportional to the effort and engagement you bring.

Expectations for the Course and General Criteria

Yoga is more popular than ever. There are countless schools and disciplines, but at its core, yoga remains the same: learning to know yourself and becoming a better human being. Yoga is not about proving anything; it is about becoming more transparent to your entire being, maintaining clarity and insight. This comes through practice, discipline, and mastery. This process continues throughout life, and the greater the humility we can show toward life’s mysteries, the stronger the gravity that fosters knowledge and understanding.

It helps if you have practiced yoga for a few years, so you know what you are committing to. The course expects that you dedicate time to your practice in order to deepen your understanding. While there are no strict requirements, the program encourages discipline, personal practice, self-study, and a willingness to engage fully. You will write four essays during the year, each up to 2,000 words. You will give a presentation to a small study group and one to the entire class, and you will take exams covering all the subjects you have studied.

After completing the course, you will have the foundational competence to:

  • Lead yoga classes in a clear and confident manner.

  • Teach a Primary Series in Ashtanga Yoga, with proper counting, pronunciation, and understanding of the poses.

  • Lead a Mysore-style class.

  • Lead a gentle yoga, Yin Yoga, or relaxation class.

  • Maintain structure and clarity in your teaching.

  • Give a presentation on the fundamental texts of yoga.

  • Have a clear understanding of basic anatomy.

  • Understand the core principles of Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Jnana Yoga.

  • Have a strong understanding of Ashtanga Yoga, gentle yoga, and yoga philosophy.

  • Have a good understanding of the life work of Sri T. Krishnamacharya and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

About Krissa

You may remember Krissa from her days teaching regularly at Leela Yoga, Joy Yoga and RAW Yoga in Oslo, before she and her family moved to Canada… Good news - she´s back! And this time, for good! Known for establishing the Dharma Yoga community in Oslo, Krissa is a 500HR Dharma Yoga Registered Teacher (DYRT) as well as a Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra & Women´s Circle Facilitator. She is registered with Yoga Alliance USA and offers trainings and courses as a YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider).

Born in San Francisco, Krissa has a Filipino mother, Scottish father, and grew up in the Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong. She lived in London for seven years, St Lucia in the Caribbean for six months, Norway for seven years and most recently Vancouver for two years. She has also travelled to thirty different countries so far. This multi-cultural and international experience sets Krissa apart, as she seamlessly weaves into her classes the threads of a thousand different perspectives from all over the world. From PURE Yoga in Hong Kong to Indaba Yoga and TriYoga in London, to The BodyHoliday in St Lucia, The Dharma Temple in Vancouver, and Yoga Flow in San Francisco… Every teacher, every student, every studio she has encountered has left an imprint. Krissa´s classes are truly a mosaic of her rich and colourful life so far.

Krissa graduated from her 200hr immersive Dharma Yoga Life of a Yogi (DY LOAY) teacher training in 2011, and completed her 500hr advanced training in 2017. Both of these were held at the Dharma Yoga Center in New York, where she was able to practice with and learn directly from Sri Dharma Mittra, a world-renowned and living yoga legend. Dharma Yoga continues to form the structure and backbone of her practice and teachings… It is the life-giving, expansive and creative force of the inhale…

If Dharma Yoga is the inhale, then Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Spiritual Circles and Ceremonies are the exhale… Since becoming a mother, Krissa has spent the last few years deep diving and specialising in these complimentary practices that all together create the formula for a life-long Maha Sadhana (Great Practice). On the mat and most importantly: off the mat.

Krissa´s offerings are what she calls, yoga as ceremony. This is where yoga meets the ceremony of life. Her mission is to “plant a seed, light a spark”. To help kindle and ignite in you a deep and undeniable sense of remembrance. Choosing to offer Dharma Yoga inspired and supported by Feminine Wisdom, Restorative, Nidra & Ceremony has allowed her to draw a full and interconnected circle of practices. One that allows her to meet you where you are - whatever season of life you are in.

The Art of Changes: Navigating Transitions on the Mat and Beyond with Ronit Cohen and Elina Seva

The Art of Changes: Navigating Transitions on the Mat and Beyond with Ronit Cohen and Elina Seva

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

Embracing Transitions: Flowing Through Change Both yoga and life are full of transitions, and sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is pause, reflect and, take them in. This retreat is designed to support us in embracing those moments of change - both on and off the mat.

Join us for a transformative weekend that blends dynamic movement with deep stillness, as we connect with the art of transitioning mindfully.

Each practice will be a chance to explore how we move through change - sometimes with ease, sometimes with resistance. But always with the possibility of reflection and growth. We will blend dynamic Vinyasa classes with Elina, that combine energy, fun, and playfulness and help us find strength in fluidity. With Ronit’s Yin practice, we will slow down and open our bodies and hearts and create space for deep release and flexibility.

And as the evening comes, we will close with Yoga Nidra, bringing stillness to our hearts and our minds. This retreat is for anyone navigating change, whether big or small. It is an opportunity to explore your practice with curiosity, awareness, and ease. Come reflect, move, and create space for new beginnings. The retreat is both in English and Norwegian.

Meet Elina & Ronit

Ronit Cohen

Hi, my name is Ronit - an experienced yoga instructor, Gestalt coach, and an education specialist with a background in the international aid sector and in refugee education. I combine my teaching with my background in coaching, exploring the various teaching styles and pedagogical methods as we continuously learn, explore and grow together.

A life without yoga is hard to imagine. When I first stepped onto the mat nearly 15 years ago, I had no idea what kind of journey I was beginning. Over the years, I’ve deepened my practice and completed certifications in Vinyasa Flow (Yoga Union, 200h), Yin Yoga (Arhanta Yoga), and Mindful Restorative Yoga Therapy, along with additional training. And yet, yoga continues to be an endless path of learning and self-discovery.

For me, yoga is not just about movement—it is about listening, connecting to what evolves in the moment and finding space to grow. I love creating spaces where we can explore what emerges using breath and awareness as our guides. It’s about recognizing that the most powerful tools we have are already within us: our breath, our body, and our ability to meet each moment as it comes. I teach in Oslo regularly and you are welcome to learn more. Yogakunst

Elina Seva

Hello, I’m Elina and I do what I do because of people. My experience - both personal and professional - has always revolved around people, connection, and the art of holding space. For over 20 years, I’ve worked across psychology, wellbeing, yoga, and mindfulness, helping others navigate the balance between movement and stillness, ambition and rest, mind and heart.

As a yoga teacher, my teaching style is lighthearted and nurturing, always with a touch of humor - because I believe we learn best when we feel at ease. With over 600+ RYT training and 10+ years experience in Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative, Hot, and Yin Yoga, I also love combining creative concepts like Kids Yoga, Kids Yoga For Adults and Inside Flow. My background as a certified massage therapist and aromatherapy specialist helps me to create some magic in savasana.

I work as a certified Health and Wellbeing Coach (NHS UK) for organizations and corporations, specializing in emotional intelligence and work-life balance. I work with groups and individuals to identify emotions, beliefs and resolve conflict; holding workshops and training.

I believe that in all areas of life we must act as if what we do makes a difference. Because it does. Find me and connect: HelloElina

Yoga Retreat med Tina fra Asker Yoga Shala

Yoga Retreat med Tina fra Asker Yoga Shala

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

Asker Yoga Shala with Tina organizes two yoga retreats at Nøsen Yoga and Mountain Hotel each year, in spring and autumn.

Our goal with this retreat is to offer high-quality yoga sessions, including both dynamic and gentle/restorative classes, providing a sense of inner peace while strengthening the body in a gentle way. We focus on both physical and mental aspects of yoga, dedicating ample time to theory on both Saturday and Sunday.

Questions are always welcome, and both the physical yoga classes and theoretical sessions are designed to be inclusive, regardless of prior experience. The program is set, but the content can be adjusted to suit the participants. Based on experience, a mix of seasoned practitioners and those new to yoga creates an exciting and enriching dynamic.

Nøsen provides the perfect setting for a retreat like this, with nature at your doorstep for hiking or simply enjoying the breathtaking views from the hotel.

On Saturday, there is dedicated time for activities such as hiking, reading, or knitting. Three vegetarian meals are served daily, including breakfast, a warm lunch, and dinner.

Tina Ørbeck-Nilssen

Tina Ørbeck-Nilssen is the owner and founder of Asker Yoga Shala. She has many years of experience as a yoga teacher and in her own personal practice. Tina teaches a variety of groups, including led Ashtanga yoga and Mysore (1st and 2nd series), as well as a broad range of other yoga classes. In addition, she hosts workshops and courses.

Alongside her yoga teaching, Tina works as an Ayurvedic yoga massage therapist—a treatment method that has become increasingly popular at the yoga studio in Asker in recent years. Like yoga, Ayurveda is a holistic system that serves both preventive and therapeutic purposes.

The Ayurvedic approach will be introduced in combination with yoga theory and philosophy, offering a more balanced and holistic perspective that takes into account both personality and life circumstances.

KayaYoga - Yoga for Body, Mind and Heart

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

Body, mind and emotions are connected. How you feel is reflected in both what you think and how you stand. At the same time, the posture will affect both the emotional and mental. This retreat focuses on body, mind and emotions and how to use the practice of yoga to manage postural imbalances as well as mental and emotional stress.

There are many different types of stress that manifest in different ways in the body. There is therefore no universal tool for managing stress. This is a varied retreat with both calm and medium-level classes. You will learn how to find safety, peace and stability in the body, how to release stress, ground yourself, connect with yourself, be present in the heart, open up both the body and the heart and much more. In other words, how to use the body to find balance in life.

For Whom Is This Retreat?

The retreat is suitable for both experienced practitioners who want to learn something new and those who consider themselves rigid, who find it difficult to progress in their yoga practice. There will be a lot of focus on technique, how to use the breath as a tool to stabilize as well as calm down, tools to be present here and now (even for those who are usually easily distracted), how to meditate for those who find it difficult to find peace and how to soften even the stiffest bodies. It's a good place to start, but also a good place to progress your practice if you're stuck and need to go deeper into your body to move forward.

If you have imbalances in your posture, it can be difficult to do many of the yoga poses. For example, you may be hunched over at the top of your back or tilt your pelvis forward. Rather than changing the way you move, you often bring the imbalances into the positions you do. This makes it difficult to correct the musculoskeletal system. So you have to go deeper. In the workshops, the focus is on technique - how to use the breath to find stability in the body, interrupt compensatory patterns and learn to move in a more functional way to get deeper into the yoga positions. In addition, a change in posture will result in a change in how you feel in your body and emotionally.

The yoga classes will be calm to medium-level vinyasa classes, where the focus is on reprogramming the musculoskeletal system and down-regulating the nervous system, connecting with oneself and softening up. There will also be calmer classes with elements of restorative yoga. It also draws on mindfulness and somatics.

About Kaja

I started practicing yoga when I was about 14 years old. At that time I had major imbalances in my body, such as hyperlordosis, scoliosis and forward tilted pelvis. Yoga helped me feel more comfortable in my body, but after practicing for many years, I noticed that I was stagnating in my practice and getting more pain in my body. I started to learn more about the musculoskeletal system and how stabilization helps to move in a better way, which also helps to become softer.

I found that I also needed to work with the nervous system to calm stress as imbalances in the musculoskeletal system are often related to what is happening mentally and emotionally. I've worked as a yoga teacher for over seven years, teaching yoga for the back, neck and shoulders, Ashtanga Yoga, Yin Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga.

Mantra & Tantra with Annelie from Trysil Yoga

Mantra & Tantra with Annelie from Trysil Yoga

Welcome to a wonderful long weekend in the Norwegian mountains. Join us to find peace and balance, and to land in your body. It will be a weekend focusing on traditional Tantric Hatha Yoga and mantras. A break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Here you will really be able to slow down, stop and listen inwards. We welcome winter by listening inward and landing in ourselves. Space is created for personal time, rest and peace at Nøsen. The beautiful nature that embraces us will create a lovely setting for the retreat.

During the weekend we will explore our chakras/energy centers through movement, asanas, meditations and breathing exercises. We will also explore and play with sound. We will chant several mantras together. Our focus will be on getting to know the mantra Mantra Laya (to dissolve), which is a composition of 50 sounds. We use this mantra to land deep within ourselves, and to land into a meditative state. The sounds are linked to the chakras in the body. They are said to be the very origin of the Sanskrit language. On the last day, we will repeat these 50 sounds in 20 rounds representing 1000 sounds and our crown chakra. This is a wonderful, dissolving sense of energetic balance that adds incredible depth and helps you find new dimensions within yourself.

Over the course of the weekend, we weave together yoga practice with workshop elements, moments of stillness, rest and reflection, to let all experiences sink in and land. Delicious vegetarian food and coffee/tea are on offer. It's also possible to buy a barista coffee and sit in front of the fire for a while to enjoy the incredible view of mountains and plains. Or why not take a refreshing swim in the lake or a lovely walk. Traditional Tantric Hatha yoga has nothing to do with neo tantra (sex or sensuality). Traditional Tantric Hatha yoga (the way of the householder) is for people who live a life alone or with their family, people who use yoga and its techniques to be and become the best version of themselves. To find stability in life and body to face everyday life and everything it entails with ease, joy and stability. It's about getting to know yourself in different situations through yoga (asanas, breathing & meditation) to live a full life, live, experience and appreciate your time here on earth. We work with our energy, building, calming and balancing - taking control and directing with conscious choices. In Hatha yoga, we work first and foremost with stability - stability in our body, life and mind. Flexibility comes second. We also work a lot with our energy. All yoga classes include asanas/yoga postures, relaxation, pranayama/breathing and meditation.

We use assistive devices (block/bolster/belt) to find stability and be able to land in the positions and stay there for a while. You don't need any prior knowledge of mantras or yoga. Come with an open mind - you are welcome just as you are! I look forward to meeting you and sharing and experiencing this weekend with you. Come alone or bring friends. The classes will be held in Swedish/Norwegian, possibly English depending on who participates.

Ashtanga Yoga, Breathwork, Pranayama - with Tarik van Prehn and Axel Haugland

Ashtanga Yoga, Breathwork, Pranayama - with Tarik van Prehn and Axel Haugland

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

Tools for transformation, healing and resilience.

As humans we are all drawing our inspiration from the same source of creation.

To inspire means to breath into, and we are excited to invite you to this weekend where we will explore these unique and ancient methods of breathing as a tool for you to be inspired to have a deeper connection to yourself.

Ashtanga Yoga is a system of Yoga developed by late Sri K Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy from Mysore, South India. Its main characteristics are fluid movements connected with the breath. Their three sequences of Asana are designed to detoxify the body and align the spine, open and purify the nervous system and create stability in the body and the mind.

Pranayama means expansion of the breath of life or life force. Designed to expand lung capacity, expand vital energy and longevity. Pranayama exercises can also calm and focus the mind allowing the practitioner to connect the life force energy in all aspects of life.

In our Breathwork sessions we will practice the classical technique called Rebirthing. Also known as connected circular breathing. The method is as clear and simple as it is profound. By breathing, we build up a polarity between an active inhale and a passive exhale. In this way we create a powerful attraction. When we then allow these two opposites to merge and together unite, breathing in a connected circular rhythm, we are weaving together the dualistic forces in our being.

Masculine and feminine, transformation and acceptance, light and darkness, life and death. In the breathing journey Axel will weave in the poetry and mantras, in harmony with sweet sounds of different instruments from all corners of the world, creating a field beyond space and time for you to travel in.

Tarik van Prehn:

Born in Brasil in 1975, Tarik van Prehn moved to Portugal with his family in 1988. He started practicing Yoga daily when he was 19. After studying and practicing traditional Chinese medicine for 6 years Tarik discovered Ashtanga Yoga in 1998. From 2001 to 2008 he traveled to Mysore, India to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois. He was Authorized by Guruji in 2004.

Tarik is a passionate (big wave) surfer, ocean lover and the the father of four children. He lives in SW Portugal where he has build his own ecological house, and where he is now in the process of building a new yogashala following the same model. Every summer he runs a Ashtanga Mysore Style Program, called Yoga, Surf & Soul, bringing together Ashtanga practitioners from all over the world.

Axel Haugland

Born and raised in Oslo, has for well over a decade studied, guided, and held space for movement, breath, and human development.

After a serious fall accident as a teenager, the journey toward physical healing became a central part of his life. His quest to get to the root of his own story has led him through many different methods of self-exploration and personal growth.

Having worked full-time as a yoga teacher and personal trainer for many years, he has in recent years primarily focused on the unique practice known as “Breathwork.” Axel shares his AANDEDRAG concept on a weekly basis in various formats. He has thoroughly enjoyed studying with a wide range of teachers over the years and holds numerous educations and certifications. Currently, he is fully immersed in family life in Nesodden with his partner, Nicoline and his three children.
