Would you like to experience the premiere of this unique combination of basic singing technique and an in-depth dive into qigong? Together with qigong master Harald Øygard and vocal coach Anna Granqvist, we are traveling to the scenic Valdres region in September.
No prior experience required!
Recharge your batteries before autumn with a refreshing combination of qigong, singing, mountain air, and health-promoting food. You will return home with deeper knowledge and greater confidence in your own singing voice. You might even make some new friends.
Welcome!
For those who want to:
Develop their singing voice
Try out Qigong
Treat themselves to a week-long mountain retreat
Be served fantastic, flavorful vegetarian food that strengthens the body
Become a more confident choir singer
Gain an understanding of how the anatomy of the voice works
Gain control over the nervous system
Have fun
These five days offer a unique opportunity to explore both singing technique and qigong together with vocal coach Anna Granqvist and qigong master Harald Øygard. Throughout the course, you will get to know your voice better and have access to a vocal coach for questions.
Learning singing technique in a group also opens up for exploring harmonies and polyphony, so this will be a playful mix of theory, canons, rhythmic games, and choir singing. We have selected both goosebump-inducing and festive songs to try, so there is much to look forward to.
You will also work with focused listening and learn some tricks for singing in perfect tune with others. This is especially valuable for those who sing (or want to start singing) in a choir. Whether you’re a “crow” or a “nightingale,” this course is suitable for both beginners and those who want to refresh their basic technique.
Course Content – Singing Workshop
Theoretical introduction to the anatomy of the singing voice
What is support, and how do you activate it?
Breathing meditations to release old blockages and free the voice
Intonation exercises to better harmonize with others
Active listening
Learning some simple polyphonic songs you will love
The course includes a fully illustrated compendium summarizing the theory and main exercises.
Qigong
Harald Øygard will focus on qigong exercises directly connected to breathing, voice, and posture. You will, among other things, try Drage Daoyin, Buqi stance, resonant mantras, and breathing meditations.
Who is the course for?
This is a beginner’s course open to all women, requiring no prior experience.
Maybe you’re a choir singer who wants to become the “reliable” one in your section?
Maybe you’ve sung before but want to brush up on the basics?
Or maybe you just want to invest in yourself for a week and learn something new?
Why only women?
Because anatomy differs, we also have slightly different needs when working with singing technique (especially when singing higher notes). Here, we will uncompromisingly dive into the challenges and possibilities of the female voice and explore music written for women’s choirs.
Course Leaders
We are delighted to have Qigong master Harald Øygard on the team for three of the days, who, together with Anna Granqvist, will explore the potential that lies within the voice. Qigong helps us release energy, work through tensions in the body, and connect deeply with the breath. This is essential for empowering the singing voice. Singing is a natural and powerful component of Qigong, and we are excited to try out a course with this inspiring combination for the very first time.
