OverviewWe live in a time when many people are looking for something more. Not something loud or dramatic, but something real. Something that brings calm to the body, clarity to the head and strength from within.
Taijiwuxigong is a self-healing qigong system developed by the Chinese master Dr Shen Hongxun, one of the foremost teachers of taiji and qigong in the world. It brings together movement, breath and intention, and sets out to clear blockages in the body, improve posture and open the body's own flow of energy (qi).
It is an active form of qigong. We use movements (daoyins) and the body's own spontaneous responses to release tension and open the energy channels. Standing, seated and lying breathing and meditation practices are taught as well.
The practices are simple and anyone can do them, whatever their age or shape. You are guided through movements that wake up the spine and the body's own energy centre (the dantian), loosen physical and mental tension, and give you better balance, breath and contact with the body.
They ask no prior knowledge, and at the same time hold a depth that gives experienced practitioners something new. The movements work on posture, breath and the spine, the body's central energy channels, and bring both physical ease and a quiet mind.
More than practice
The course is held surrounded by the mountains, with time for both depth and rest. When you are not practising you can walk or ski in the mountains, sit by the fire with a book, eat well, and gather yourself in quiet or in company.
You do not need to master anything. Just turn up, and be willing to listen to your body.
What regular practice can do
- Lower stress and inner unrest
- Improve sleep and energy
- Ease aches in the muscles and joints
- Sharpen concentration and focus
- Strengthen posture and breath
Many people describe a feeling of lightness, clarity and a deeper calm after the first weekend.
Grand Master Dr Shen Hongxun
The founder of the system, Dr Shen was a doctor of both Western and Chinese medicine, a lama in Tibetan Buddhism and one of the most knowledgeable tai chi teachers in the world. By bringing the "secret" knowledge of the Chinese martial arts together with modern medicine, he built systems made to help people living modern lives.
