Mysore morning practice
Ashtanga practice in the Mysore style on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

With Pernille Bønkan. A pre-Christmas weekend of yoga, meditation, chanting and a vegetarian Christmas dinner with an Eastern twist.

Welcome to a weekend full of Christmas spirit, with good yoga, peaceful meditation and lovely vegetarian Christmas food made from local produce with Eastern inspiration.
Many people look forward to Christmas, others feel stress and high expectations, and some have quite mixed feelings about the season. We want these days to be both traditional and to break a little with tradition. Perhaps we can create our own beautiful tradition, built around yogic values?
We will light candles, drink mulled wine (gløgg), chant sacred verses and gather to reflect on the year that has passed. We will also look more closely at the glad tidings of the season: what do we really mean by joy, and who is responsible for it?
Of course there will be plenty of good yoga. We start the days with Ashtanga and end the afternoon with a calm session that leads into deep rest. There will be meditation, breathing techniques and chanting, and plenty of time set aside to enjoy the beautiful nature and fresh mountain air.

Pernille has worked with body and energy all her life. As a young dancer she was introduced to Eastern approaches to body and mind, such as acupuncture, qigong, tai chi, yoga and aikido. This shaped much of her approach to dance and the performing arts in her professional career. Over time, yoga gradually became her way of life.
For the last 20 years she has run Puroyoga in Oslo. She took over as head teacher when her teacher Alexander Medin turned his full attention to Nøsen in 2018.
Besides running Puroyoga and teaching yoga full time, Pernille has long teaching experience. She has taught and choreographed dance at KHiO, the Norwegian College of Ballet, Bårdar, Kulturskolen at Schous and Proda, and has also made work for the National Ballet, Nytt dansk danseteater and other independent groups.
Partner work has always been central to Pernille in both dance and yoga. She has always been fascinated by the interplay and meeting between two bodies, from classical techniques in ballet and martial arts to more intuitive approaches such as contact improvisation and body-mind centering.
