Pause & Breathe – A Weekend for Your Body, Mind and Soul with Studio Yogananda

Pause & Breathe – A Weekend for Your Body, Mind and Soul with Studio Yogananda

Signs of Light with Jenny Kostoglakis

Signs of Light with Jenny Kostoglakis

In the darkest time of the year we will find light.

Over these four days, you’ll free suppressed energies and embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery. You’ll reconnect with yourself by releasing, cultivating gentle curiosity and the courage for inner strength. A fresh and energetic start into the new year.

Our Core Practices to Reignite Your Light.

Writing. The chaos in our head will find a new home on paper. Writing has long and successfully been used in therapy, and research has shown that it helps with organizing, processing, and releasing thoughts and stuck emotions. What makes it especially unique is that it's able to reframe experiences and firm belief systems in a way that talking may not achieve.

Intentional Yin Yoga. This is where your body learns the true meaning of stillness, softness and surrender. Each pose is held for three to five minutes and guided by a certain theme. During this time, you allow your muscles and fascia to let go. You’ll begin to create a safe space for pausing, reflection and deep insight.

Yoga Nidra. Here you’ll be guided into the “in between” zone – shifting between waking and sleeping. That deeply restorative state activates your parasympathetic nervous system and can lower your cortisol, the main stress hormone in your body. It reduces anxiety, opens up emotional blockages, promotes creativity and the connection to your self.

I’m so looking forward to guiding you through this beautiful experience!

About Jenny Kostoglakis

Journalist, Certified Yin Yoga Instructor & Yoga Nidra Guide

At six, I wrote my first fantasy story: a brave pink princess rescuing the love of her life. At ten, a silly vacation magazine for my family. By nineteen, a small book of short stories titled Teach Me How to Live, and at twenty-three – surprise, surprise – I became an official writer and journalist.

The real surprise, however, was that the fast-paced world of news journalism, built around the very thing I loved most — writing — would lead me straight into burnout. Writing at such a high speed and volume made me race through life itself. One day I woke up and barely recognized myself. Deep down, I already knew: this wasn’t the path I was meant to walk. It wasn’t healthy, and it wasn’t real writing. It couldn’t be.

So, I paused.

And stepped onto the mat. Yoga made me realize that stillness and peace existed; I just needed to actively make space for them. I approached writing again. This time with a deeper sense, a slower pace. My joy came back, and I can’t tell you how many times I felt release during my writings, suddenly sitting before a soaking sheet of paper with blurry ink.

We have no idea how much our body carries, how much our mind holds. So, I strongly believe that writing and movement of any kind are some of the greatest pauses available to us in the chaos of modern life. And it is my mission to create that exact pause for you — a moment where you can rediscover yourself again. Where you step out of the noise and back into yourself. Where you meet your pure light.

Steady Practice, Quiet Depth- An Ashtanga and Yin Retreat- With Kathy Scherer & Edgar Navarro

Steady Practice, Quiet Depth- An Ashtanga and Yin Retreat- With Kathy Scherer & Edgar Navarro

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.”

— Rainer Maria Rilke

Next February, Edgar and I return to nosen for a week of Ashtanga and Yin, held in the depth of Norwegian winter.

Rilke’s words feel less like inspiration and more like instruction.

Ashtanga requires a certain patience. You show up. You practise the same sequence. You meet the same resistances. Progress, if it comes, is often subtle. The work is steady, methodical, occasionally uncomfortable — and deeply clarifying.

Yin asks for a different sort of maturity. To remain. To soften. To stay with sensation without immediately trying to change it. It does not hurry resolution; it allows things to unfold in their own time.

Together, they create a balance that feels particularly fitting for winter. Effort and yielding. Heat and stillness. Structure in the morning, quiet depth in the afternoon.

Outside: snow, pale light, sharp air.

Inside: breath, repetition, longer holds, shared meals, sauna, silence.

And alongside the seriousness of practice, there is community. An international gathering of practitioners — familiar faces and new ones — sharing tables, stories, and the sort of laughter that only comes after a strong morning on the mat. There is something quietly powerful about doing this work together; friendship forms easily in the cold.

This retreat is not about finding answers. It is about developing the steadiness to sit with what has not yet resolved — in the body, in the practice, perhaps even in yourself — and remembering that we do not have to do that alone.

If something in you feels unfinished, questioning, or simply in need of space, you will be very welcome.

February. Mountains. Practice. Patience.

About Your Teachers

Edgar Navarro

Edgar Navarro is one of the directors of Miami Life Center, a vibrant yoga studio in the heart of Miami dedicated to the study and practice of traditional yoga. With a deep passion for holistic well-being, Edgar supports students in developing practices that cultivate awareness, balance, and long-term sustainability.

Rooted in the Ashtanga Yoga tradition, his teaching emphasizes not only the physical practice but also the subtler dimensions of yoga, including pranayama, meditation, and breath-centered awareness. Edgar also integrates Yin Yoga as a complementary practice that helps balance the intensity of Ashtanga, supporting recovery, nervous system regulation, and deeper introspection.

Edgar has studied under the guidance of respected teachers including Sharath Jois, Mark Linksman, Kino MacGregor, Tim Feldmann, JoPhee, and others who have influenced his understanding of both traditional and evolving approaches to yoga.

Through his work at Miami Life Center, Edgar shares practices that encourage students to cultivate steadiness, sensitivity, and a deeper connection to themselves both on and off the mat.

Katy Scherer

Katy is an Authorised Ashtanga and Breathwork teacher based in Bonn, Germany. She is the co-founder and owner of The Vinyasa People, a yoga studio and community hub, Yin Nation, a yoga and lifestyle store, and The Pilates People.

An Ashtangi at heart, Katy loves exploring the space where tradition and modernity meet — sometimes harmonious, sometimes provocative, always transformative. She spent several months studying in Mysore under Sharath Jois, receiving his Authorisation to teach Ashtanga Yoga in 2022.

While her roots are grounded in traditional practice, her curiosity has always extended beyond it. After years of practising classical pranayama, she began exploring modern breathwork methods and quickly experienced the powerful and often life-changing impact of the breath. Today her work blends traditional pranayama, modern breath science and dynamic breathwork practices, creating a space where students can explore the breath deeply, safely and with curiosity.

As a practitioner, teacher, business owner, wife and mother, Katy’s approach to practice is shaped by the realities of modern life. She believes deeply in honouring tradition while allowing practices to evolve, creating spaces that support people not only on the mat, but within the full complexity of their lives.

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.”

— Rainer Maria Rilke

Mornings begin in quiet.

We gather for Mysore practice — a steady, self-paced exploration of the Ashtanga sequence. You show up, you practise, you meet what is there. Some days feel clear, others less so. The work is not to force change, but to stay with it — patiently, consistently — and allow understanding to emerge over time.

After practice, we come together for breakfast.

The middle of the day is left open.

Time to rest, walk in the snow, sit in the sauna, or simply pause.

Lunch is shared in the early afternoon.

As the light begins to fade, we return to practice.

Evening Yin offers a different kind of attention.

Here, there is less doing and more allowing. We remain with sensation, soften around it, and give things time to unfold in their own way — without needing to resolve or fix.

Dinner follows, and the evening remains unstructured.

There is space for conversation, for stillness, or for an early night.

A simple rhythm, repeated each day.

An opportunity to practise patience — not as an idea, but as something lived, in the body, in the breath, and perhaps in the quieter questions that arise along the way.

Arrival & Departure

On arrival, we settle in gently.

There is time to arrive, meet, and land before we share our first meal together.

On the final morning, there is the option to practise before breakfast, followed by departures.
