Risk sport in slow motion

It is working life he is talking about when he calls it a risk sport in slow motion.
"It is probably the first time in history that we sit as much, and the way we do: back bent over phone or computer, neck hunched forward, stomach slack and breath often compressed, often combined with racing thoughts about performing," says Mikkel, who teaches yoga at Puro Yoga in Oslo and also in companies.
"What I see is a kind of public health crisis, if I may be so dramatic, because when you look at the statistics for lower back pain, shoulder and neck problems and stress-related complaints, the numbers are huge!"
He says he also did destructive risk sport himself, in a slightly different way.
"I sought out risk, danger and excitement, and in time it became very destructive, with many accidents and injuries. On skis it had to be harder, steeper, faster, tougher, and my top speed was 116 km an hour. When you keep seeking out danger and pushing it, you just want more, more, more. I think maybe some guardian angels were working overtime," says Mikkel, smiling with something serious behind the smile.
