I must live to bear dying

Actor Heidi Gjermundsen Broch will soon open in the play "Eg føreslår at vi vaknar" at Det Norske Teatret. The role needs boxing training, because Heidi plays Vilde, who loves to box and who, despite serious illness, above all wants to live so that she can bear to die.

The play is based on Beate Grimsrud's book "Jeg foreslår at vi våkner".

"Grimsrud was not so concerned that the book was about illness. She was more concerned with how we humans relate to time, especially our relationship to time once we understand it is not endless," says Heidi.

"Life is also suffering. It is wonderful and terrible, grand and small, but if I can hold exactly these opposites, the life we have here on earth becomes a slightly better place to be."
