Yoga is softness inside ourselves

"I have pushed myself a lot in life, both as a climber and as a skier. I had the same attitude to Ashtanga yoga. I had plenty of guts and power, but it was in softness, and in letting go, that I found a deeper strength in myself."
Ellen Marie Medin is married to Alexander and is the mother of three boys. While Alexander Medin teaches Ashtanga yoga, Ellen Medin has become more and more taken up with teaching soft yoga. She believes everything we do on the mat mirrors how we are in the rest of our lives, and stresses that Ashtanga yoga can also be met with softness.
"Nothing in yoga needs to be hard. Neither does life, so why does it tend to become so hard? We often link softness and vulnerability with pain, but to live real and honest lives we need to bring softness into every smallest thing we do."
